With summer in full swing, we decided to revisit some of our favorite summer movies. The cult classics have aged well. These charming films still manage to entertain and remind us why summertime is so great.
Dazed and Confused
It’s the summer of 1976 and next year’s seniors are on the hunt to haze incoming freshman. This coming of age film showcases the beauty of doing absolutely nothing with your friends. And who can forget McConaughey’s classic line?

The Sandlot is an all-time classic. Watch Scotty Smalls as he tries to play baseball and make friends in his new neighborhood. The movie follows nine kids through a summer of backyard baseball and hanging out. After accidentally getting his stepdad’s prized baseball chewed up by a mastiff, Smalls and the gang do everything they can to replace the baseball that was signed by Babe Ruth himself. These hilarious kids will charm you to pieces.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Near the end of the school year, Ferris decides to fake sick and take the day off. The film takes you through a picturesque tour of Chicago in the summertime. You can see some of the city’s most famous landmarks in the film, including the Sears Tower and the Art Institute. Ferris and his crew joyride around the city and give us some wisdom along the way.
It’s the summer of 1958. 50’s greaser Danny and sweet girl Sandy fall in love at the beach. Danny returns to school thinking that Sandy has moved away to Australia with her family, but Sandy’s plans change and, unbeknownst to both of them, they end up at the same school. This movie is for the people who enjoy a more intense summer story. An unusually large shark is lurking along Amity Island on the east coast. After a local is eaten by the beast, Quint Brody and Hooper set out to hunt the shark down. CGI and green screen technology have come a long way since the movie was shot in 1975, so the movie appears comically fake at some points today. Nevertheless, this film is not to be missed, especially for fans of thrills.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Carmen, Tibby, Bridget, and Lena are about to spend their first summer apart. While out shopping, they find a pair of pants that fits them all, despite their differing body shapes. The funny and heartwarming story follows each of the four girls through their summer away from their friends.
