Beyoncé’s Most Iconic Performances
No performer around today is more iconic than Beyoncé. Whether performing at Coachella or at the Superbowl, Queen Bey commands the stage like no other. Take a trip down memory lane and take a look at some of Beyoncé’s most legendary performances.
Coachella 2018
Every Beyoncé performance is amazing, but this one truly stands out from the rest. Beyoncé turned her performance into a spectacle, complete with a brass band and hundreds of dancers — even a baton twirler! She performed her most beloved hits — from “Diva” to “Crazy in Love,” even bringing out Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a Destiny’s Child reunion. Not only was this another of Beyoncé’s show stopping performances, but she also paid tribute to black culture and historically black colleges and universities. It’s no surprise that many consider her to be the best Coachella headliner of all time.
2011 Video Music Awards
Beyoncé took to the Video Music Awards stage to perform one of her most loved songs “Love on Top.” Though, fans were quick to note that something was different about this performance. The Houston singer, usually known for her high energy dance routines, was not dancing as fiercely as usual. This unusual lack of dancing was quickly explained, however. After performing her 1980s-inspired power ballad, Beyoncé dropped the mic, opened her sequined tuxedo jacket and rubbed her belly — announcing her pregnancy with daughter Blue Ivy to the world. Her husband Jay-Z and friend Kanye West were seen celebrating in the crowd soon after.
Super Bowl XLVI
Only the best pop stars get a chance to rock a Super Bowl halftime performance. Beyoncé did not disappoint. Arriving to the stage lift as a voice clip from legendary football coach Vince Lombardi played, Beyoncé began her performance with an acapella performance of “Love on Top” before transitioning to “Crazy in Love.” This performance saw Beyoncé at her most fierce, bringing both the high powered dance moves and vocals. She brought out her former Destiny’s Child members for renditions of their hits “Bootylicious” and “Independent Women Part I.” Kelly and Michelle even joined her for a performance of one of her most iconic hits, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).
2017 Grammy Awards
Many of Beyonce’s most memorable performances have been at award shows, and her 2017 Grammy Awards performance certainly follows that trend. Only Beyoncé could make performing while pregnant with twins look so easy! She performed two classics from her album Lemonade, “Love Drought” and “Sand Castles.” Beyoncé looked nothing short of a goddess during this performance, looking similar to the Virgin Mary in a gorgeous gold costume. She finished off the performance by telling the audience, “If we’re going to heal, let it be glorious.”
Picking what performances to include on this list was not easy. Pretty much every single one of Beyoncé’s performances is historic in their own right. No matter if she’s performing in a sold-out stadium or in an intimate club setting, Beyoncé always leaves it all on the stage.
