Halloween Costume Ideas
Halloween is on a Wednesday this year. You know what that means? You’ve got the potential for two Halloween weekends. That means double the excuses to dress up and show off your creativity. If you’re experiencing some trouble coming up with the perfect costume, have no fear. We’ve put together the best ideas for 2018 to help get those ideas flowing.
This video game released last year, but its hold on the nation has only grown since then. The game has just under 80 million players a month, so your costume is bound to be recognized. Best of all, there are lots of Fortnite characters to choose from, so you’re not running a huge risk of a repeat costume. Fortnite has team mode, so you can have your friends dress up as their favorite characters and arrive as a team. Some of our favorites include Crackshot, Raptor, Skull Trooper, Default Girl, Rabbid Raider, Black Knight, and Survivor Specialist.
A Catch Phrase
A perfect option if you’re into puns, dad jokes, or if you’re lazy. Remember in The Office when Jim Halpert wrote “book” across his face and went to the Halloween party as Facebook? This is the same idea. The kids are coming up with new buzzwords every day. Popular ones like “woke” “squad goals” and “fake news” are fun for onlookers to figure out. Best of all, you can flex your creative muscle and make the costume as intricate or simple as you’d like.
The Incredible 2 came out earlier this year, so a character from that film will be easily recognized this Halloween season. We like Edna the most. Her bob cut is cute on some and outrageously funny on others. Don’t forget some giant glasses and her black dress. If you’ve got a group you can dress up as the whole Incredibles family and play along as the characters. If you’re looking for a cute couples costume, there’s always Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl.
10 years ago you would have no idea what I was talking about, but meme costumes are getting more popular every year. You can dress up as a character from an old TV show and take the costume to the next level by being a meme at the same time. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, take a quick trip to Twitter or Reddit for a crash course on memes. If you’re on board, our favorites are Arthur’s angry fist (from the show Arthur) and Mr.Krabs spinning (from Spongebob Squarepants). You can also go throwback (and by throwback I mean maybe five years) and dress up as Scumbag Steve, Doge, or Grumpy Cat.
The popular app that sparked hours and hours of hilarious six second videos was put to rest in 2017. However, many of the more popular vines are still recognizable and quoted on a daily basis. Most people won’t understand a vine costume right off the bat, but a few select people at the party will, and you’ll become their favorite person automatically. Our favorite’s are Kyle (played by Nick Coletti), Andrew Bachelor (also known as KingBach) and Brittany Furlan.
