Must Haves for your Halloween Playlist
Halloween is rapidly approaching, and if you’re planning a Halloween party, the perfect playlist is an absolute must. Luckily, there are thousands of Halloween songs out there, but it can be hard to pick what songs to pick .
Keep reading to find out what Halloween essentials should make the cut for your spooky playlist. We’ve created the perfect list of Halloween classics and songs you may not even thought of.
Monster Mash – Bobby “Boris” Pickett
Now, this one is an absolute classic. Even though it came out all the way back in 1962, pretty much everyone includes it on their Halloween playlists. If you aren’t a fan of the original version, there are several re-recordings by other artists and bands for you to choose from. The song became a staple in The Beach Boys’ live performances, and they released a version of the song on their 1964 live recording. Perhaps most famously, however, the horror punk band The Misfits released a cover of the song in 1997.
No matter what version of the song you choose for the playlist, your guests will certainly get into the Halloween spirit.
She Wolf – Shakira
While we all know Shakira for her infectious 2005 hit “Hits Don’t Lie,” she has several other classic hits in her discography. One of these is the song “She Wolf” from her 2009 album of the same name. The track features the Colombian pop star crooning and imitating a werewolf’s howl over a dance beat. As the title suggests, the lyrics recount the story of a female werewolf, otherwise known as a shewolf. Shakira also recorded a Spanish version of the song called “La Loba.” Stop what you’re doing and listen to the song right now, and you’ll see that it deserves to be on every single Halloween playlist you make.
The Time Warp – Rocky Horror Picture Show Cast
For those of you who love musicals, this song is for you. Nothing from this iconic musical movie is more memorable than “The Time Warp,” a song that comes with its own dance move. As soon as this song comes on at your party, your guests will be doing the iconic dance beloved by generations. Better yet, you could host a movie watching party for those of your group who have somehow not seen the musical, and many cities host live reenactments of the musical complete with props, and of course, dancing.
There Will Be Blood – Kim Petras
This list needed something modern, and “There Will Be Blood” by Kim Petras certainly fits the bill. Off of her 2019 Halloween-themed EP, TURN OFF THE LIGHT, the track combines sinister, spooky lyrics with a killer (pun-intended) dance beat. There are more Halloween hits than those from back in the day, and this song proves that the Halloween spirit is still alive today. You should check out the rest of the album as well, as it features the legendary Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
